Returning for it’s 36th anniversary, The French Quarter Festival returns to the Big Easy as the last music festival of the spring before Jazz Fest kicks off the summer. The French Quarter Festival will take begin on Thursday, April 11, and will end on Sunday April, 14. With more than 250 acts, 1,700 musicians across 23 stages, the festival will surely boost the local economy, yet again.
Thursday April, 11
For the first day of festivities, notable guests include Funk Monkey, John Cleary and Otra. Acts Lil’Glenn & Backatown, Galactic and Mykia Jovan are making their festival debuts. Other scheduled acts to look out for include Cha Wa, Juju Child & The Hypnotic Roots Band and Brass-A-Holics.
Friday April, 12
The second day of the festival contains the second-most acts of the weekend. Audiences will be blessed with performances by Irma Thomas, DeJan’s Olympia Brass Band, Lisa Amos, and The Iguanas. Buku Broux, the Josh Benitez Band and Nebula Rosa will be making their festival debut. If you missed the Lil’ Glenn & Backatown performance on Thursday, they will again grace the stage on Friday.
Saturday, April 13
With the most scheduled acts of the weekend taking place, the third day of festivities is going to be an extraordinary peak of the weekend. Biglemoi and Frankie Boots will be making their debuts at the festival. Saturday also contains the peak number of stages available. Festival goers will be able to see performances by Carl LeBlanc, NOCCA Jazz Ensemble, The Zion Harmonizers and the Treme Brass Band.
Sunday, April 14
The closing out the festival will begin with performances by Bonerama and Dash Rip Rock. This day also contains the most local acts to grace the stages over the course of the weekend. Notable debuts include Stone Rabbits, Shawan Rice and The Daiquiri Queens.
