A Note from The Director of Public Safety / Chief of Police, University Police

On Thursday, October 18, 2018, at approximately 10:20 A.M., two subjects on bicycles approached a Xavier student in the Convocation Parking lot, who was in her vehicle at the time.  One of the two subjects attempted to get the student to exit her vehicle by telling her she had a flat tire. The student wisely refused and the subjects attempted two more times to get her to exit before they approached another female in her vehicle in the same lot.  The first student immediately called XUPD who dispatched units to engage the two subjects.  The subjects fled from the campus into the Gertown community and eventually abandoned both bicycles and fled on foot from responding units. The two subjects are described as black males, between the ages of 16-17 years of age, one subject had braids and wore a grey shirt and pants and the other subject had a black baseball cap on with jeans. XUPD is working closely with NOPD and all University Police Departments to protect Xavier University’s campus community, as well as all other communities, from similar criminal activity impacting our area. Be sure to down the XULA safety app at http://www2.xula.edu/itc/xulasafe.html.

Should any faculty/staff/student see or come into contact with these individuals, please notify XUPD or 911 immediately.
Thank you.
Chief Battiste
